As part of my research into interactive banner campaigns I have looked at various websites that are aimed at various different audiences to get an insight into how banners work and how they integrate into the websites.

For this project I have been required to create a unique interactive branding banner campaign for a well established company. The banner will be featured on various websites across the internet with the aim to entertain, communicate, attract and educate the audience on the company.

For my final website I decided to go for a glamourous hollywood feel. Using a colour scheme of blacks and white contrasting with golds and silvers to give it that rich, famous feel.
For the header I created a banner in photoshop that reflected the retro 1950's feel and also reflected hollywood being most famous for its cinema and the idea of your name in 'lights' which signifies fame and celebrity.
I included a famous marilyn quote to link back to the purpose and original ideal of the website. This also makes the website unique from other jewelers or diamond retailers and businesses. The marilyn monroe signature gives it that personal touch brings it to life.
I used the same layout throughout the website in order not over complicate it and make it easier on the eye.

Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co. is a famous American jewelry business that is often associated with the rich and famous. Marylin Monroe's song 'A Girls Best Friend" mentions the Tiffany's twice and has been referenced to in many famous hollywood and international tv and film productions and celebrities alike. The website uses colour but has a neutral feel and a boxed layout making navigation easier for the user.
.

For my final project I have been asked to create a business website for a famous person, icon or celebrity. Out of the list of people provided I had chosen Marilyn Monroe as I know a lot about her in addition found many ideas to develop a business website based around her.
Marilyn Monroe thrived during the 1950's an era that had a big buzz around Hollywood and its celebrity and fame. Marilyn was best known for her beauty, charisma, starring in hit Hollywood movies, singing, being a fashion icon and a major sex symbol across the world.
This gave me a lot of potential for creating a business website, for example:
- make-up and beauty
- fashion or clothing
- fashion advice
- jewelry
- vintage
I decided on a Jewelry as that was the first thing that came to mind when thinking about Marilyn Monroe. Linking the idea of a diamond and jewelry website to Marilyn Monroe's famous song 'Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend".

In choosing my musical themed website as 'Rock' I decided to research other rock themed websites, looking at common features, themes and colour schemes. In doing so I noticed that 'rock' had certain colours that were primarily associated to the genre such as dark colours such as greys and blacks which often contrasted with bright red or white. This links back to the anarchist movement, the rebellion against government and society they often used symbols and black, white and reds in their symbols. Often linked to popular culture in terms of punk rock in the 1970's in addition society associating rock and the colours and symbols such as skulls etc as rebellious.
Examples of Rock Websites:
NME Magazine is an online version of a rock genre magazine. The website uses the colour scheme of black and red in contrast to the white background. I particularly like the central layout of the website.
All Time Low is an american pop rock band. This website contains various components that would be considered 'rock' such as the colour scheme, use of skull graphics along with a distressed style font.
Leeds and Reading Festival are music festivals particularly aimed at rock fans. This website uses red as the main background colour contrasted with yellow text colour. This gives the website and unique and personal feeling as people may associate the website to this specific festival but also to the rock genre.

This is my sketch of the font style for my website banner in addition the branding identity of the website. The text will be white against a black background with the 'o' in loud being a red colour that will link in with other red components of the website without being over powering.
These are initial sketches of graphics I aim to include on my webpage. The guitar a key symbol of the rock genre will be place as part of the website banner. I aim to collage and overlap different graphics such as an amp, guitar, microphone and vinyl records in addition linking in the same red colour as the 'o' in 'Loud'.

Task 5 consisted of putting the whole website together by adding the content and putting it in a layout. For my website I created a 2 column layout using the 'float' element of CSS. Creating two columns of text makes the webpage appear to have more content put in a not so ordered or controlled way as having one in addition reflecting the rebelliousness etc of the 'Rock' genre.

Week 4's task was to create the navigation elements to my rock themed website. To best suit a rock website I researched similar themed websites and found that the majority used a horizontal navigation bar. I created a similar navigation bar and edited it using CSS using fonts and colour to make it stand out but also link to the rock website. I also added a hover over so that when a user hovers over the navigation bar with the mouse the text would turn from white to red in addition linking to the rock colour scheme.

For this weekly task we had to choose a music genre to make a website for. I decided to mind map ideas for different themes and decided upon one theme I was most passionate about.
The genre I chose was 'Rock' and in choosing this genre I set about design and making graphics that reflect the rock genre for my website. The use of graphic images in connection with the colour scheme blended well giving the website a much more professional look. Creating margins and widths also helped maintain a centered and well placed look so that nothing was overlaid or out of proportion.

For this task we focused on creating the more aesthetic components of a website rather than the basic structure. We used various tags to edit the colours, borders, padding, background and images. Styling type with CSS..

The aim of this task was to 'look beneath the surface' of a html page focusing particularly on typography and its importance on a webpage in terms of layout, style and function. For this task I created four webpages using the same body of text but editing the elements around it such as colour etc to create four diverse webpages.

As part of an introductory task to the module I have been researching various web layouts and designs. I am looking at various different qualities of a web layout/design and how they come together to make a design or layout successful.
One design I found was for Sleek Design Studio. First of all the overall mood of the design is cool and sleek giving a laid back feel with a modern twist. The colour scheme provides a fresh feel but with fairly neutral tones in addition contrasting with the cool blue tones making the website more attractive and gives the website a individual and recognizable identity. The central layout provides a simple and easy template for the navigation of the page. The design is fairly simple and easy to navigate with the main menu bar instantly visible at the top of the page along with a company logo which instantly links with a brand identity. The layout is successful in many ways as it's not overcrowding the page with advertisements or images and the 'home' page is highlighted so that unfamiliar users can easily go back to the beginning if they find themselves lost or cannot find the page they are looking for.
